Rainy
Season!!
Our world is
green and wet! We are now in the middle of the rainy season and it pours
down daily! With the wonderful rain our climate is really nice at the
moment – cool and fresh (and muddy, of course!), but with all the rain we do
not have much sunshine – and I guess that is Mozambique summed up – never in
balance! If we have water we do not have power and if we have lots of
solar energy we don’t have much water! But in all things we are thankful!
Light for
the nations?
Two friends
helped us buy a few solar kits to resell in our village. The timing while
down in South Africa was perfect as we got the kits for less than half
price! We brought 10 up with us and at first we wondered if the people
would be interested and if any would be sold, but in 2 weeks all of them were
sold! Alfred held a demonstration one night and everyone was impressed
with these little lights! Alfred will train our one worker to install and
maintain the solar power units. Light makes such a big difference in
their lives! Our prayer is not only for physical development but also
that they may get to know the True Light of the world and accept Him as their
Saviour!
To do
lists…..
Alfred didn’t
waste any time in the New Year and started his language lessons on the 2nd
of January! He is doing really well! He is working to achieve a
high enough language proficiency by the end of the year to start translating
the material that he wil be using for the evangelism phase. Please pray
for him – it is going to be a full year!
An example of
a lesson!! :) Alfred used it the night he explained the solar kits!

School:
Our school
started the 7th of January. This year I have my first high
school learner! Christiaan is in grade 8, Bernard in grade 7 and Stefan
in grade 5. We are really looking forward to this year and we are very
thankful for all our wonderful schoolbooks! The photo’s were taken in
Malawi where we went to pick up our books as we cannot mail them to Lichinga –
a second Christmas for the 4 of us!
Please pray with us for:
· Perseverance and courage to continue
in language and culture studies plus building of relationships
· Our children and school
· Health and protection
We
thank the Lord for each one of you that has blessed us in one way or another
and for your prayers! We pray the Lord’s richest blessing on all of
you!
Lots of love!
Alfred
and Belinda & Christiaan, Bernard and Stefan
Please
write to us and tell us your news – a letter is like a long distance hug!!
